St. Joe's

Several years ago, I imagined a church of small groups. I imagined what they would be like, and one of the versions was a book club. As I day dreamed about that an image emerged in my mind of what that would look like. It was very real in my mind; tangible. It was like a portrait, and the placard under the picture said, "St. Joe's Book Club".

I don't attribute any kind of spirituality to my vision, but it stuck. Ever since I've looked forward to leading St. Joe's book club, and last night was my chance. St. Joe's is reading Velvet Elvis, by Rob Bell. Last night was our first meeting. We met at Panera Bread after work for our discussion. I had a blast with these guys. It's three of us at this point, though, if you want to get in, you still can. But we talked about the first chapter and a ton of other stuff. What I like about it is that there are three very different backgrounds approaching the book from different angles. I look forward to next week.
