The first rule of negotiation, be ready to walk away.
In the used car game this rule is one that is of utmost importance. Yesterday Corie and I were put to the test, but we passed. We saw a vehicle that we quickly knew was not the vehicle we wanted, but ended up seeing another that we liked. However the price was considerably more until we expressed our interest, then suddenly we were being given the "internet" rate, phone calls to the manager (another thousand off), but it didn't come quite enough for a vehicle that was the same year, but had twice as many miles. We were close, but not quite there. So we walked away.
On to the next one!
