The Prof just through out a term that has really got me thinking. "Folk Religion" He said that Islam is largely a folk religion, that is a religion that is taught from leaders and indoctrinated apart from thinking through for themselves. Christianity can be that kind of religion too if we're not careful. Our faith should never be something that we just take by the spoonful from a pastor or leader. That's why I'm approaching our teachings the way I am. Let's look at the Bible together, I'll study to try to frame it in the understanding that the original audience would have heard it, then we make applications to our lives.
Folk Religion: Indoctrinates rather than educates and makes itself irrelevant to the believer.
It's about us coming to God's word and being changed not by me or you, but by
God's word applied to the human life, that is transformation. Think about it.
