When In Doubt Throw It Out

I have pack rat disorder. Though not to the degree that others do. I have a tendency to hold onto things much longer than I should.

But while in college I heard the president of my school say, "when in doubt, throw it out." He was referring to the stuff that accumulates. He said that when you're faced with things that you're not sure you'll ever use again, discard it. If it is important enough you'll know that you need it and for what purpose. If it is not important enough you'll wonder. That is when you need to discard it because then you're free of it. Plus, if it turns out to be important you can always replace it.
