I have had such a burden lately for people to come to Christ, and recently have been taking account of opportunities to share my faith. I find myself becoming more and more boxed in by the church. Not their fault, mine.
So I'm digging a fishing hole and want to ask for your help in prayer. Jesus' promise was to make us fishers of men. Well my nets have been empty for a while so I'm casting on the other side of the boat.
Would you start praying for Leadership Growth Group. It is a group for business professionals to develop leadership through the discipline of reading and discussion. It is a small group but is not religious or connected to SRC in any way. Just a place that I hope to be able to connect with unchurched people to share my faith. Thanks.

FYI - Recent surveys show that 79% of all believers came to faith through relationships - the witness of a friend or relative, and perhaps more significant, the relationships often were long term with many weeks and sometimes years passing before a person comes to faith. All other forms of evangelism (meetings, crusades, door to door) account for the remaining conversions. Effective evangelism happens through the building of relationships - and oddly enough, that sets the table for effective discipleship as well - who wudda thunk it?
Michael,
Right On! The problem I find is that as a pastor I end up befriended and surrounded with people who already know Christ. Much of my time is spent with this group of people, and I lack the environment of unchurched, pre-Christians. My hope with the Leadership Growth Group is to have an environment to start new relationships to share my faith. Paul told Philemon (1:6) that we couldn't fully know what we have in Christ unless we are sharing our faith with others.

I believe it was my wise pastor that preached if one is to fish and caught the big fish, One must push boat away from the dock. Deep Water is where the fish are found.
We as Christian don't always like deep water because that is where we must rely on Jesus to stay a float. Let go of our controls. Deep Water is not safe, Church pews are... just Beans view
